Ardougne is one of the most important city around RuneScape, if not the most important one. Why is Ardougne so important to every RuneScape player? There are loads of reasons. You want to do all the quests? Many quests are starting in Ardougne. You want get your thieving up? There is an excellent place for every player to get some thieving levels. Need an item? There are a lot of shops around Ardougne.

No matter what are your needs, the chances are that Ardougne can help you. Just a quick note to notify everyone that a teleport spell for Ardougne is available at level 51. In order to use this spell, you must have completed the Plague City Quest though.

Note: To simplify both the writing and the comprehension of this guide, I will use Ardougne instead of East Ardougne. If somewhere in this guide, West Ardougne or both the eastern and western part of Ardougne are involved, then there will be a specification saying so.

Quests

There is a great number of quests that start somewhere in Ardougne. Here they are, along with a small explanation of who you should talk to in order to start the quest.

(1) Biohazard

You can start the Biohazard Quest by talking to Elena, which is located east of her parent's house. For a global idea of where she is located, you have to be on the west side of East Ardougne and go north of the castle.

(2) Hazeel Cult

In order to start the Hazeel Cult quest, you need to talk to Sir Ceril Carnillean, a noble man who thinks highly of himself. He is located to the very southwest of Ardougne.

(3) Plague City

Want to do the Plague City Quest? Then, you need to go to the northwest corner of Ardougne, and talk to Edmond, who is Elena's father. If you know where Elena is, then Edmond is just west of her house.

(4) Regicide & Underground Pass

Looking for a hard and competitive quest? The Regicide Quest is here for you. Even though it is a messenger that makes you start this quest once you have done the Underground Pass Quest, you need to go talk King Lathas, the king of Ardougne. As every respected king, King Lathas can be found in his castle, just to the west side of the river. By crossing the bridge in order to go the west side of East Ardougne, you will end up facing the King's castle.

(5) Sheep Herder

Want to get some quest points by doing an easy quest? You can't ask for better than the Sheep Herder Quest. In order to start this quest, go talk to Councilor Halgrive, which can be found just south of the praying altar, located almost perfectly in the center of Ardougne.

(6) Temple of Ikov

I am sure that you want those boots of lightness. Well you can get them by doing the Temple Of Ikov quest. Just go talk to Lucien to the northwest of Ardougne to start this quest. In fact, Lucien is in the bar of Ardougne.

Attractions

(4) Ardougne Castle

The castle is home to a king named Lathas. When you walk in, you will see that it's like a regular home on the first floor. There's a even a bathroom to wash yourself. On the Second floor can be found King Lathas. Here you can start the quests called Underground Pass and Regicide. He is also a part of the storyline for the following quests:

• Plague City
• Biohazard
• Underground Pass
• Regicide
• Roving Elves
• Mourning's End (Parts 1 and 2)

As you can see, the castle is not an important place store-wise, but it is tremendously important quest-wise.

(8) The Zoo

The Zoo can be a good place to either attack some monsters without fearing their replies or watching animals in an imitated wild-life environment. This zoo is a good attraction in Ardougne, since you won't find another one anywhere else in RuneScape. Here are the species you can find in this zoo.

The Church

Every respected city must have his own church...and Ardougne is no exception. The church is located in the very middle of Ardougne. There is an altar there so you can pray the gods of RuneScape in order to recharge your prayer points and be a little bit more prepared to continue your epic adventure.

The Banks

Need to "withdraw" money? There are 2 banks in Ardougne, located to the north and to the south of the city. As with every other banks, you can store and withdraw items from your account there.

Log Shortcut

There is a log that you can use to cross the river. An agility level of 33 is required to be able to attempt to cross the log, but you can still fall in the river past this level. Falling in the water will result in a loss of 5 hitpoints, so be sure that you will be able to survive a possible fall.

Pottery Utilities

If you bank to the north bank of Ardougne and that you use the log shortcut, then these potter's wheel and pottery oven are relatively close to a bank. Once again, for a sudden need of pottery, these utilities will do the job just fine.

Furnace

Without being the closest furnace available from a bank, the furnace of Ardougne can be useful. It is still pretty close from a bank and, as every other furnace, it allows you to smelt ores into bars and bars into a wanted item if needed.

Cooking Range

Want to cook something quickly? There is a range for you just west of the marketplace. If you are able to find Ardougne, I take it that you are able to use a range as well.

Shops

(7) Ardougne Marketplace

As told before, Ardougne is a great place to shop your different needs, and the marketplace is a section of Ardougne gathering many stores. Notice that you can thieve from certain stalls. There will be further info about which stall you can thieve from, and what is the thieving level required.

Please note that every time you try to thieve, the stall owner can catch you and call the guards, or the guards themselves can catch you. If this happens, then you will be attacked by one of the guard. For detailed explanations about thieving, see the Thieving guide. Please also note that prices may vary depending on the quantity available of the item you want to buy.

Silver Merchant

Need some silver very quickly? Then this shop is for you. Take note that a thieving level of 50 is required to thieve from the silver stall.

Baker

There are 2 bakers (each one having his own stall) in Ardougne, They can sell you bread, cakes or a slice of chocolate cake. You need a thieving level of 5 only to be able to thieve from the baker's stall. A little hint, do not buy from them. It is very easy and quick to pickpocket a full inventory of cakes.

Silk Merchant

There are 2 silk stalls in the Ardougne marketplace, but only one silk merchant. He can buy your silk for 60gp ea if you try to sell for 120gp at first and you bargain for 60gp. To thieve from a silk stall, you must have a thieving level of 20 at least. You cannot buy anything from the silk merchants.

Spice Seller

There is a spice stall/shop in the Ardougne marketplace. To thieve from the spice stall, you need a level of 65 in thieving, which is relatively high compared to the others stalls thieving levels requirements. You can buy spice here for 230gp each.

Fur Trader

There is a fur trader that is willing to buy and sell you different kinds of fur. Be sure to have a look at his stuff, since he could have good deals for you.

Gem Merchant

It is the birthday of the loved one and you want to give this person a shiny present? The Ardougne marketplace gem trader is here for you. He usually has one cut gem of sapphire, emerald, ruby and diamond.

Other Shops in Ardougne

Bartender

Had a hard day? Then relax and go have a beer. The bartender can sell you one for 2gp. But remember kids, you must be 18+ to drink, and do not drink and drive...

General Store

Aemad and Kortan are running a general store that is located south of the church of the city. As every general store, you can find many little useful items. Also, it is impossible to tell the exact content of a general store since it is always changing during the game, but it seems accurate to say that these items are always disposable. If not, just wait for the item to re-fill itself.

Platemail Shop

Zenesha is the owner of a mail platebody shop that is located just southwest of the marketplace of the city. She can sell you mail platebody, to a quality up to mithril.

Transportation

Basically, there are 4 places in Ardougne that will allow you to travel by another mean of you casting a teleport spell. One is a teleport spell cast by a magician, another one is by sea, the third one is with a tree spirit while the last one will teleport you when pulling a lever.

Ardougne Port

To the southeast of the city can be found a port. There, captain Barnaby can give you a trip to brimhaven for 30gp. Note that you can also travel from brimhaven port to Ardougne for the same amount of money.

Wizard Teleport

Wizard Cromperty will teleport you to the rune essence mine once you have finished the Rune Mysteries Quest.

Tree Spirit

If you go to the western side of East Ardougne, you should see a black wall that is separating the east Ardougne and the west Ardougne. Always by staying in east Ardougne, go south of the black wall. When you will come to the end of the wall, you will be able to see a tree spirit a couple of feet away. Talk to him to be able to teleport to the Tree Gnome Village

Lever Teleport

Just west of the castle is a lever in a small house. Pulling this lever will instantly teleport you to level 54 in the wilderness. Be sure of those risks before pulling this level. However, if you want to go in deep wilderness for any given reasons ( Agility training as an example), then using this mean of transportation can make you save lots of time. There is also a lever in level 54 of wilderness that allows you to teleport immediately to Ardougne.

Respawns

• In the house of Helena's parents, there is a spade respawn and a picture respawn (which is used during a quest).
• The black scimitar respawn is located in the castle on the second floor.
• Just south of the northern bank of Ardougne is a respawn of pigeon cages. Those cages are used during quests such as One Small Favour.
• Northwest of the southern bank of Ardougne is a Guide book respawn. This book gives you a quick summary of the main attractions of Ardougne, but by reading this guide, you will get better information.
• There is an iron mace respawn spot just east of the gem merchant's stall.
• Need an hammer or a chisel but you don't want to pay for them? No worry, since they both respawn side by side in the house of Wizard Cromperty, which is located to the very northeast of Ardougne.
